CV4. Politics: Dinosaurs have been a political statement/ meme for climate change, and have been repurposed, like other folklore, for CV. [Photo] 200411-CV3. History of a Meme: The T Rex Costume. Unknown if these inflatable costumes can work as a Positive Pressure Suit.
CV5. Economics: Covid-19 and the Rebounding Chinese Economy.
CV7. Emergence: The medical and sociological definitions of emergence, with One Health thrown in, Human Behavior Influences Infectious Disease Emergence at the Human-Animal Interface.
CV8. Fiction: [Meme] & How a Single Word in Aliens Has Caused Decades of Confusion$. The word was xenomorph. Another misunderstanding of technical meaning of quarantine and the difference with isolation have longue duree CV22 and language CV06 influence, impacting of official policy such as Ebola and the Fiction of Quarantine.
CV9. Arts: Kids Are Drawing Pictures of the New Coronavirus, which is an indicator of impact and how it is perceived among children, their social group and families (i.e. community). Art Therapy: Myths and Realities. Overlaps with education which is social construction for the purposes of parademic. Blurs with spirituality CV10, uncertainty (magical thinking) and exploitation, that collectively can lead to junk science.
CV10. Spirituality: This was Religion, but that was not a satisfactory label that missed a wider range of behavior than being limited to elaborated, organized, explanatory systems. Religion did not address the overlap with magical responses to uncertainty, simplification, abhorrence to formal organization, the Surreal, and tolerance for the ineffable and unknown.
CV12. Personal: My living in a remote area means that ordering online and having items delivered is common. With sheltering in place this apparently has gone up. UPS delivered a box today that was heavy that I went out to open the garage so the driver would not have to lug it up our steps. We talked for a couple minutes as I noticed he looked very tired. He said that because of CV they were busier than Christmas time.
CV13. Outliers: Coronavirus Victim, 108, Survived 1918 Spanish Flu Pandemic. She would have been about 6 years old during H1N11918, with a personal longue duree of the two biocrises.
CV14. Miscellaneous: Not sure how to categorize this. Video: Suspect Driving in Excess of 120 MPH Captured During CHP Pursuit. Having been on the parking lots (freeways) of LA and Bay area, I can understand why someone may not be able to control themselves when there is nothing on the road to interfere with speeding. 200419-CV25. U.S. Traffic Fatalities Rose 7% in 2020 Despite Decreased Driving.
CV19. Technology: Was Treatments, which is technology. Vaccination is a technology, and antivax https://leadstories.com/hoax-alert/2020/03/fact-check-the-flu-shot-does-not-increase-by-36-the-risk-of-having-the-covid-19.htmlis a narrative that is conspiracy theory* narrative of antiscience =2=, disinformation, and uses social media and other communication/ marketing technologies.
-*A. An additional problem of conspiracy theory is that it continues to spread and infect other topics beyond the original disinformation, such as Ibuprofen.
-B. POST COLLECTIO: An interesting parademic behavior was that when conspiracy theory did not manifest as predicted, the believers easily switched to another conspiracy theory or quackery. These switches were not always logically consistent with each other.
CV23. Polemic: Coronavirus Kills its First Democracy =2=. 200315-2.2Quote is the blur between fiction and reality. MORE: Hungary’s Coronavirus Coup. What’s happened in Hungary over the past few weeks is a case study of how the pandemic threatens democracy. It’s also a warning for the US.
CV24. Norms: Formerly this was Law, which like the Religion label was too restrictive to encompass behaviors. Law tends to be organized and imposed norms (which are not necessarily the norms of the society). Norms include, formal and informal means to maintain: arrests, courts, civil actions, shaming, guilt, stigma 201003-CV18, banishment, vigilantism, and idiosyncratic behaviors (i.e. are outside the law and social norms). POST COLLECTIO: Legal became a category with attempts to legislate CV control, and laws became misguided acts.
-A. Likely that when sufficient masks are available there will be Public Health (PH) guidelines, strong social expectations, and laws that everyone wear these. In actual fact masks and social distance are not absolutely necessary, but result in behaviors that will control and contain, these being more a magical behavior than directly efficacious =2= (contradiction =2=) =4= =5= and will quickly fade as the apparent need seems to recede, results and not instantaneous, and more magical (scams) treatments are introduced. It’s likely in US guilt culture – unlike Asian shame cultures where the wearing of masks has become a social norm – is that there will be complacency and is wearing a mask the social distancing will no longer be followed. Worse, it is likely that as social distancing begins to flatten the curve people will think social distancing worked and they can stop 201111-CV18.1. A New Enemy in the Battle Against Coronavirus: Lockdown Fatigue Listicle.
-B. POST COLLECTIO: Because a significant minority of people were not voluntarily wearing masks, vaccinating and social distancing, laws and company policies eventually began mandating and enforcing through penalties. This became a self fulfilling prophecy that there would be mandates by the various anti and conspiracy movements. MORE: Covid-19 Is a Self Fulfilling Prophecy.
