CV06. Linguistics: 'Iso', 'Boomer Remover' and 'Quarantini': How Coronavirus Is Changing Our Language. People love creating words – in times of crisis it's a "sick" (in the good sense) way of pulling through CV02. In parademic framing neologisms represent new concepts and recognition of phenomena that need to be coded for communication.
CV09. Arts, Creativity: These Video Diaries Document Quarantine Stories From Artists All Around the World. Museum releases weekly peeks inside the studios of prominent artists, to create a living archive of the global pandemic
CV10. Spirituality, Philosophy: Inside the NIH’s Controversial Decision to Stop its Big Remdesivir Study. The drug maker Gilead Sciences released a bombshell two weeks ago: A study conducted by a U.S. government agency had found that the company’s experimental drug, remdesivir, was the first treatment shown to have even a small effect against Covid-19. Behind that ray of hope, though, was one of the toughest quandaries in medicine: how to balance the need to rigorously test a new medicine for safety and effectiveness with the moral imperative to get patients a treatment that works as quickly as possible. 200503-CV17.
CV12. Personal, Relationships: Was aware that long term anxiety combined with a stressful emotional event can lead to angina and dyspnea. No surprise then that I have been experiencing both to the point of being debilitated [Meme]. That is not all bad as my wife has stopped bugging me to clean out the garage. Don’t worry about her finding out that I am using this as an excuse, she doesn’t read this blog because it is too negative. 210103-1A.
-A. The CV pandemic is the likely stressor =2= =3= =4=. More exactly all the previous years of collection and analysis, knowing what negative parademic social behaviors are vulnerabilities that accelerate, exacerbate, and perpetuate CV, and other current biocalamities. Not being able to influence what to me are obvious trends for so many years is stressful. This is made worse by the fact that the means to have mitigated and shorten CV as well as other biocalamity currently exist or can be developed, but are hindered [Meme]. 210103-1A.
-B. Counter intuitively the time spent on this blog is relaxing, the feeling of discomfort and feedback of panic decrease considerably. Not my field of expertise but PDN probably gives me an outlet to express frustrations when my parademic skills are currently at a point that my forecasting has been remarkably close to the real world. I am reluctant to be predictive and have it repeatedly come true and am not objective about some horrible likely outcomes, so there is a tendency for the effects to be sooner and worse that I forecasted. [Strip].
-C. Need to gradually wean away from parademic. An abrupt stop will probably be more stressful than I can safely handle right now. Knowing that this format of the blog will draw to a close this year feels like a good balance between what I need to do now, and what I need to do next.
-D. POST COLLECTIO: Still working on the blog as of the Update to this one. However, the format and nature are changing.
CV13. Outliers: How large (or dangerous) does a fringe and minority need to be to go from being an outlier to being threat. AP-NORC Poll: Majority Disapprove of Coronavirus Protests. POST COLLECTIO: The Jan 6 Insurrection gives a vague idea of where this rubicon may be.
CV14. Uncategorized, Miscellaneous: The Latest Challenge to Enforcing Coronavirus Rules at the Beach: Bioluminescent Dolphins.
CV15. Death: A Covid-19 Mystery Explained: Moscow Has 1,700 Extra Deaths. The number of overall registered deaths in the Russian capital in April exceeded the five year average for the same period by more than 1,700. That total is far higher than the official Covid-19 death count of 642 – an indication of significant under reporting by the authorities. A similar picture has been observed in many other countries. In Belarus, where the authoritarian leader has rejected calls for a lockdown as “frenzy and psychosis”, the reported death rate is about 10 per million. In Mexico, officials have recorded more than three times as many deaths in the capital as the government has acknowledged, 200731-CV29. Unclear if this is only authoritarian governments (to include state level gubergenic) that are misreporting, and if the incorrect figures are due to cover up or incompetence. CDC Finds New York City Coronavirus Death Toll May Be Much Worse than Official Tally. POST COLLECTIO: It became clear (except for denailists) these were cover ups and incompetence.
CV16. Consequences, Social Change: Covid-19 May Permanently Shutter Museum Devoted to Vaccination Pioneer. In an ironic twist, Edward Jenner’s historic house CV23 is struggling to outlast the financial toll CV05 of being closed. [Cartoon].
CV17. Uncertainty, Contradictions: Weather Forecasts Could Become More Challenging During the Coronavirus Storm. The pandemic has disrupted several sectors and meteorology is no exception. The quality and quantity of the observational data that feed into weather forecasting models could well be affected by the pandemic. Interesting comparisons to what is happening to parademic data collection and assimilation CV25 CV30.
CV18. Narrative, Social Reality: Cybersecurity Expert Discusses Efforts by Foreign Countries to Influence the Public's Understanding of Covid-19 CV01 CV04 CV23. In today's context of Covid-19, the purpose can simply be to airbrush a narrative. For example, China is trying to influence how foreign media and foreign governments react to its management of the Covid-19 pandemic. And China is getting better at influence operations.
CV19. Technosphere: There is a layer of human waste products being laid down that will be the geological marker of the Anthropocene. CV22. Longue Duree: Nurses on the Front Lines: A History of Heroism from Florence Nightingale to Coronavirus. CV18 CV23.
CV23. Polemic, Nocuous: In Japan, Pandemic Brings Outbreaks of Bullying, Ostracism. The Coronavirus in Japan has brought not just an epidemic of infections, but also an onslaught of bullying and discrimination against the sick, their families and health workers. A campaign to raise awareness seems to be helping, at least for medical workers. But it’s made only limited headway in countering the harassment and shunning =2= that may be discouraging people from seeking testing and care and hindering the battle against the pandemic. All of these behaviors predate CV CV22, but are more visible now. 201223-CV18.
CV23.1. Ukraine's Hospitals under Strain, Even with Few Virus Cases. The country’s corruption ridden economy has been drained by six years of war with Russia backed separatists in the east, and the year old administration inherited health care reforms begun by the predecessor that are still rolling out. The reforms have slashed government subsidies, leaving hospital workers underpaid and poorly equipped. MORE: Ukraine's Overburdened Doctors in Desperate Virus Fight.
CV25. Movement: Your Daily Commute Won't Ever Be the Same. Coronavirus will upend – but perhaps make healthier – the ways we use trains, buses, and bike lanes in our post pandemic future.
CV25.1. Key Virus Modeler Says Rise in Mobility Is Driving up Death Projection. We're seeing, in some states, a 20 percentage point increase in just 10 days in mobility, and that will translate into more human contact, more transmission.

CV27. Learning: Science Fiction Builds Mental Resiliency in Young Readers. Young people who are "hooked" on watching fantasy or reading science fiction CV08 may be on to something. Contrary to a common misperception that reading this genre is an unworthy practice, reading science fiction and fantasy may help young people cope, especially with the stress and anxiety of living through the Covid-19 pandemic. 200719-CV16.
