CV02. Humor: A Woman Created a Set of Quarantine Barbies to Show What Life Can Be like During a Pandemic. On her Instagram account she has been creating and photographing realistic scenes with Barbies since October 2017. Her account is meant to show the activities Barbie might actually do in real life, like decorating her kitchen and working from a home office. So it only made sense for her to show how Barbie might bake tons of bread and binge watch her favorite shows while social distancing. That’s how Ruiz's "quarantine dolls" came to be.

CV03. Information: The Types of Coronavirus Coverage That People Want to Read Are Shifting over Time. There was often a mismatch between what audiences deemed important and what news organizations reported. Covering Coronavirus: How Audience Needs are Changing and How Newsroom Coverage Compares.
-A. This has implications for parademic use of open source material to get an idea of the range of what people believe about bioevents. The presumption is that media are interested in maximizing attention from an audience for either economic, political or social gains. There would be a lag between the audience and the media source, demonstrated by how media changes over time to maintain its audience, usually due to impact on income as widely spread as possible. There are exceptions of course with professional and occupational sources whose audience recognize that specialized information is going to be more expensive. Another exception is where the income is from an interest that does not care about profit, but have a source of income that is more interested in a particular belief message, i.e. propaganda and misinformation. Open source as a source of information about beliefs is valid, but far more nuanced. How information is framed is not necessarily what is believed by the author, but what can be believed by the chosen audience. Instead of reflecting belief some open sources are more about what is it wanted for others to believe than what is believed.
CV03.1. The Bad News Quietly Buried During the Pandemic. With the world’s attention glued to the Coronavirus pandemic, news about anything else has been slipping farther and farther down the proverbial front page. But that doesn’t mean nothing’s been going on. Whether by design or coincidence, politicians and others are taking cover under Coronavirus news to move forward on their plans – and with so much to say about the pandemic, journalists have been letting slide what might otherwise land above the fold. PDN actually gets some of these as they are syndemic CV21 but they are difficult to find and not in the more widely read sources.

CV07. Emergence: Photos: Brazilian Farmers Hatch a Plan to Send Healthy Food to the Favelas. In Brazil's favelas, poor urban neighborhoods where residents live in crowded homes and lack basic sanitation, the toll of the Coronavirus is expected to be brutal. The informal jobs that sustain 39 million Brazilians, such as selling street food or working temporary construction gigs, are also victims of the stay at home order, which started in mid March. Like the categories used for PDN for CV it is ubiquitous and crosses over to other categories as part of the social system of the interaction of CV and society. As participants in a small trust network smuggle medication across ISIS controlled northern Iraq to hospitals in the besieged city of Mosul, they theorize their pragmatic entanglements with unknown others. Based on ethnographic fieldwork in 2014 and 2015, as well as the author’s participation in this network, the essay introduces enunciatory trust, or trust without confidence CV06, as an analytical framework for surviving insecurity in Iraq. CV27. Learning: The Lesson Is to Never Forget. A lesson from previous pandemics we should remember is that governments have the responsibility to prepare for a pandemic; they have the obligation to invest in public-health systems to protect their citizens from both the threat and the reality of the next pandemic. As collective memory fades, so will our ability to prepare for the next pandemic. Just below the Japanese village of Aneyoshi =2= =3=, there’s a stone carved with a warning: “Remember the calamity of the great tsunamis. Do not build any homes below this point”. CV30. Methodology: Contested Legitimacy for Anthropologists Involved in Medical Humanitarian Action: Experiences from the 2014-2016 West Africa Ebola Epidemic. The growing involvement of anthropologists in medical humanitarian response efforts has laid bare the moral and ethical consequences that emerge from humanitarian action. Anthropologists are well placed to examine the social, political, cultural and economic dimensions that influence the spread of diseases, and the ways in which to respond to epidemics. Anthropologists are also, with care, able to turn a critical lens on medical humanitarian response. However, there remains some resistance to involving anthropologists in response activities in the field. Drawing on interviews with anthropologists and humanitarian workers involved in the 2014-2016 West African Ebola epidemic, this paper reveals the complex roles taken on by anthropologists in the field and reveals how anthropologists faced questions of legitimacy vis-à-vis communities and responders in their roles in response activities, which focused on acting as ‘firefighters’ and ‘cultural brokers’ as well as legitimacy as academic researchers. Whilst these anthropologists were able to conduct research alongside these activities, or draw on anthropological knowledge to inform response activities, questions also arose about the legitimacy of these roles for anthropological academia. We conclude that the process of gaining legitimacy from all these different constituencies is particular to anthropologists and reveals the role of ‘giving voice’ to communities alongside critiquing medical humanitarianism. Whilst these anthropologists have strengthened the argument for the involvement of anthropologists in epidemic response this anthropological engagement with medical humanitarianism has revealed theoretical considerations more broadly for the discipline, as highlighted through engagement in other fields, especially in human rights and global health. In parademic this is called information resistance, staying inside one’s ideological/ belief silo no matter the cost. 200812-CV21.2.
CV33. Legal: Constitutionalist Sheriffs Won't Enforce Coronavirus Restrictions, Some Cops, Sheriffs Won’t Enforce ‘Unconstitutional’ Covid-19 Orders. Can They Do That, The Rise of the Anti Lockdown Sheriffs CV03.2↑. This refusal to enforce law and regulation has been an increasing problem, not just for CV. Besides the obvious problem that CV will once again become uncontrolled, anti lockdown, or use lockdown as a pretext for authoritarian policy =2= =3= =4= =5= =6= =7=, will have some civil authority on its side. An old story of vigilantes, KKK, hijacking political power. Calling themselves Constitutionalists gives a veneer of higher authority, legitimacy, and rewriting history to support a particular narrative, not increased accuracy between fact and what is interpreted as the meaning. This does not bode well as law enforcement (LE) will need to decide who they work for, will become selective with enforcement (including inventing new laws) and come into conflict CV23.1↑ with other LE agencies, to include the National Guard (NG) and DoD having internal conflict and may end up fighting LE and other military units CV23. This will be even more difficult with constitutionalist judges that will support them.
