CV04. Politics: North Korea Puts Kaesong City in Lockdown over Suspected Covid-19 Outbreak =2= =3=. The city is near the border with South Korea and a state of emergency is declared to contain a potential outbreak, the North’s state media reported. It has long been suspected that – As North Korea has been suffering under incessant epidemics, people have built ‘mental immunity’ against them, and are able to deal with them without major fear. They are immune biologically, but the continuous years of epidemics have made them insensitive. The fact that no cases of COVID-19 have been reported to the outside world could be connected to surveillance and drastic curbs on freedom of expression by the authorities. North Koreans are well aware that when making contact with family or friends living in South Korea, there is always a chance that they are being wiretapped. So phone calls and letters are usually made under the premise that someone might be listening to or reading their conversations. They will never say a word related to COVID-19, as this can cost their lives.

-*D. This is the break from the initial information overload, the chaos, of the initial stages of CV, to where there was sufficient patterns (a battle rhythm), that I felt comfortable using general categories for specific analysis. By this point there were strong indications that CV would be global, and that it would be both a syndemic biocalamity and a parademic. Unlike Ebola2014, CV was going to clearly be a Natural Experiment that going to spread in the US, where I had more understanding of the culture, history, current situation, than I had for West Africa, and where I could possibly be able to do synthesis. Unfortunately information sharing is still a major weakness, and in the middle of a pandemic is not the time (in fact is way too late) to try to teach the parademic concepts that have been developed that would have been useful for containment and control of CV.
-*E. Another break with the longue duree CV22 that is behind CV parademic in North Korea. This includes its belligerence, ASF, Food shortages, Disinformation on US bioweapons 210103-CV31C, TB, Public Health weaknesses, paranoia, pollution and contamination and suppression of higher cognitive functions. These patterns go back further in the Parademic Database Weekly Notes (PDWN) than listed here. These range from manipulating Trump as he sought a Nobel Peace Prize for denuclearization of North Korea, back to 2010 with its responses to the 2009H1N1. Without this background data it would not have been possible to have informed awareness of North Korean concealment behaviors (even from the gubergenic) in the context of health, environment and biocalamity. This awareness gave a idea of the range of behaviors to expect from North Korea, to include threats of war, denial of CV, self isolation, medical scams, using CV for internal propaganda ...
-F. North Korea May Be 'Reaching out to the World for Help' after Finally Announcing a Suspected Coronavirus Case. Hopefully no one will make the aid contingent on giving up their nukes. Disney World Reopens as Coronavirus Cases Surge in Florida. Disney’s new rules include mandatory masks and social distancing. Visitors need reservations to enter a park, and they won’t be allowed to hop between parks. Visitors and employees will receive temperature checks when they enter. Fireworks shows and parades have been suspended to prevent drawing too many people together. Capacity is nowhere near where it is under normal circumstances. There are lots of hand sanitizer stations around, and people were respecting the physical distancing cues and guidelines. Some attractions and dining areas aren’t yet open. Visitors can’t hug and greet the costumed Disney characters. Instead, the characters are in “cavalcades,” or motorcades, as they make their way through the park. Realism includes the beliefs are not going to change, the goal is to mitigate the behaviors based on those beliefs. Rush Limbaugh Is Talk Radio’s Coronavirus Super Spreader.
CV24. Norms: Province Warns of Pandemic Boredom as it Reports 37 New Cases. Fatigue, boredom, complacency always seem to happen with security and safety measures that result in nothing happening, especially when the measures are inconvenient, have costs, degrade efficient operations and take effort. This is the impossibility of trying to prove a negative. If no one is getting hurt why have safety measures*A 200713-CV01, if no one is getting sick why have public health and vaccinations, if I have not worn a mask before and did not get sick (the mask is to keep others from getting sick), why should I wear one.
-*A. Serious Violations of Health Workers’ Rights During Pandemic. In the long months to come, as the applause fades and essential workers seek the personal and professional resources to respond to the pandemic’s long game, it is critical that their fundamental rights are honoured. If we do not meet these minimal requirements, if the state cannot honour even its ordinary obligations, all of us will be far less safe. 200725-CV24.

CV33. Legal: The Americans with Disabilities Act at 30: a Cause for Celebration During Covid- 19. When President George Herbert Walker Bush signed the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) into law on July 26, 1990, we doubt he was thinking about protecting people with disabilities during a pandemic. ¿How could he?. It was unimaginable to conjure up the catastrophe wrought by the Coronavirus. We can excuse that oversight.
-A. Congress should have known better. Of the US$3 trillion dollars appropriated in the CARES Act in response to Covid-19 pandemic, less than $1 billion was dispersed to the states to support older people and individuals with disabilities. This neglect of people with disabilities vitiates the ADA on the cusp of its 30th anniversary.
-B. Advocacy from the disability rights community has had a marginal effect. The Democratic House version of the HEROES Act now being debated in the Senate has done much better. It includes significant funds to assist people with disabilities during the pandemic, earmarking $10 billion to $15 billion to pay for home and community based services for the next year CV05. This Medicaid funding can help keep people with disabilities in their homes and out of congregate and institutional settings where they are especially vulnerable to Covid
