PDN Introduction.
CV03. Information: Type A Blood and Covid: ¡Danger! …Wait, Never Mind. If a particular Covid-19 finding grabs your attention, set up a news alert to see if it ends up being contradicted. Tons of data on Covid-19 and patient characteristics is piling up all over the world, and scientists will be looking for and sharing all sorts of correlations. Many of those will be false positives, the result of statistical randomness. If the correlations are dramatic, they’ll grab headlines. Other researchers will (hopefully) subsequently try to replicate those findings, and often fail. The negative results will be less likely to get published. When they are published, they’ll be less likely to garner expansive news coverage. Science Journalism has consistently a contributing factor to negative parademic. 200428-CV20, 200423-CV22, 200413-CV06, 200407-CV03.

CV05. Economics: Why Testing for Coronavirus in Low Income Neighborhoods Lagged. Even as access to testing grew in wealthier, whiter parts of several California Bay Area counties, community testing sites lagged or offered only limited hours in communities of color where the virus was spreading fastest.
-A. Though the synecdoche category is economics, the topics are becoming familiar patterns CV30: Access, testing, wealth, white, California, Bay Area counties, community testing sites, testing lag, limited hours, color, virus (fast) spread. There are also implied topics of racism, poverty, inequity, medical access. These topics are more likely to be the focus when synthesizing reports on what social determinants accelerated CV, social problem areas to be address for future pandemics, and human behaviors that will hinder of facilitate response.
-B. Parademic tends toward inductive, to take from the general and drive down to specifics, rather than the deductive of moving from a single specific to form the context. Both methods are valid, but the inductive approach starts with a wide net of context and finds the critical important elements, while deductive focuses on what may or may not be key to the context, but can lead to what is essential. However deductive is important because at first there is likely to only be a fragment, a line in an article, a small indicator of a larger bradyoccult context of a biocalamity, or the precursors and antecedents of a parademic. CV30.
-C. The following illustrates the tendency toward initially focusing on details, rather than the whole assemblage. Covid-19: a Poor Use of Specialized Resources. This error is repeated time and again in disasters. This issue was primarily on the differences in care and outcomes between public and private hospitals in New York during the height of the pandemic there. Embedded in that podcast is a discussion about the use of the additional hospital spaces that were added on an emergency basis. They point out the poor use of these specialized resources – basically lack of use. There is a poor use of specialized resources. Too many are requested, those that come are not employed in a timely manner, or for the major purposes of their team design.

-A. As far as I can determine the relation between pharmaceutical industry/ lobby, and the administration is a rocky one of convenience. Drug costs are a problem and a populist issue, but drug companies have money to spend to influence elections for those who will help them maintain profits. Mutual parasitism 200726-CV20, is a possible working term for this type of strange bed fellows, toxic relationship.

Understanding how humans have gone through things like this before, and that the world didn't end, was comforting. CV31. Futuring: The Strategies to Help You Build a Lower Risk Covid Social Bubble. I can see this eventually becoming networks of social bubbles. It should not be that difficult to identify social bubbles that have kept social distance and not had cases of Covid, or if they had been exposed if the exposure was isolated and time has passed, or a rapid test made, to prove that people in the social bubble will not spread the infectious disease. A bit different from echo chambers the seek to exclude outsiders and potential contamination, but ones that seek others that are CV safe. This would be handy for schools, play dates, family gatherings to quietly exclude those relatives who are risks. If infectious disease and antibiotic resistance become norms this could become another social divisions of the Haves CV, and Don’t Haves CV.
CV32. Anthromes: What Will Covid-19 Look like to Geologists in the Far Future CV22D↑ CV31. COVID-19 is a major global shock that has turned our lives upside down, but how does it measure up on the grand billion year scale of Earth history. The answer puts our human dramas in the largest perspective – and may yet be critical to all our futures.
-A. The pandemic won't leave a direct record of the viruses for geologists of the far future to investigate, as viruses don't fossilize. And it may be hard to pick out a clear fossil record of the victims too, as they could be difficult to distinguish among other causes of death.
-B. There will be indirect signals such as some specific "technofossils" that are spiking in abundance. For instance many billions of disposable face masks and gloves are already showing up in litter globally and are now working their way into the geological cycle. They are plastics based, durable and so easily fossilized. [Photo, Cartoon].
