Hong Kong Zero Covid Policies Create Mountains of Plastic Waste
-1. The most frequent association of humans with biocalamities are the waste products of human activities that contaminate and harm environment and health. Obviously, human behaviors are not the only cause of biocalamities*A *B, but for the last 200,000 years of anatomical modern humans there are paleontological*B, botanical, microbial and geological indicators that humans have contributed to changing and exploiting*B biomes*B. 12,000+/- years ago Anthropogenic*B changes began to accelerate*B – the inflection*B of a curve from linear to exponential*B growth, or social change – though currently still largely bradyoccult*B. This slow and hidden process makes it possible for the cause/ effect relation, and the unintended deleterious consequences to be ignored. The acceleration of the degrading biosphere has deposited an increasingly clearer and frequent =2= archaeological record [Chart] of ecological disasters, abandoned and deteriorating anthromes*B , deforestation, desertification*B, dead zones, biodiversity loss, increasing temperatures, etc. of biocalamities =2=. [Quote].
-*A. All known global mass extinction events are associated with what could be argued to be a worldwide layer of garbage. In one case the waste was iron rust resulting from the waste product of oxygen from bacteria. Another is a layer of chalk (iridium) =2=, likely from dust created when a large fragment of space debris struck Earth.
-*B. One of the frustrations of parademic and biocalamities is the lack of generally shared terminology for description and to share information with others. The curator is still in the process of assembling a glossary and does try to explain neologisms, technical, and atypical definitions, and it’s a drag to include definitions each time an unfamiliar term is used. The final glossary will not be completed until after reviewing the 2020 stub notes, which at the current pace of review will probably not be done until the end of 2023.
-2. Anthropogenic discarded products are accumulating to form a distinct global geological layer (200728-CV32B, 200511-CV19, 190602-6, 190127-4) defining the current transition from the Holocene, when the latest global ice age began to end. The climate and environmental changes associated with the Holocene created more favorable habitats for humans and their coevolving/ domesticated species. This climate change – not the same as the current anthropogenic accelerated climate change – allowed human societies to invade the whole planet from its Alkebulan origins. In erudite terms the Anthropocene is laying down a compacting layer of stratigraphy =2= =3=, taphonomy =2= and typologies. Before this material becomes a geological layer =2= [Chart] it is commonly called trash, garbage, refuse, mass culls, casualties, graves, biohazards and hazmats, pollution, contamination, cultural detritus, duff, sewage, intellectual (data holding electronics, paper media, disposable data and information) and industrial waste. There are two other forms *A↓ *B↓ of recognized, but intangible, garbage that further antagonize biocalamities and parademics.
-*A. GIGO (Garbage In, Garbage Out), the uncertainty and loss of trust when incomplete and poor data are run through flawed models leading to conclusions and actions that don’t reflect the real consequences. GIGO templates App2↓ range from conspiracy theory, magical thinking, rumor opportunities for mis and disinformation (rumor), phobias, invested interests, clustering illusion, incorrect conclusions, deleterious decisions, motivated thinking, junk science, antivax, a priori stereotypes, untested assumptions, logical fallacies, political polarization (group think), misrepresented and altered information (lies), and misinterpretation. This form of trash neutralizes debunking, critical thinking, crisis communications and has a backfire effect =2= =3= that prevents cleanup and correction. GIGO causes disruptions and destruction in the information sphere and influences human behavior, usually in increasingly ruinous ways (acceleration). Being cognitive social constructs (agreed upon ideas among people) this damage does not leave direct evidence, but indirect evidence resulting from behaviors. The evidence of GIGO are mental templates App2↓/ schema of indirect physical evidence and/or*C observations of mass irrational and inhumane behaviors that result from these imagineries =2=.
-*B. Dehumanized people are treated by fellow homo sapiens as trash. Templates for these abominations include orphans =2=, othering (them/not us), scapegoats, marginalized, the dead, moral panics about the sick and spreaders, foreigners, sex workers, druggies, abused, junk, impoverished, different ideologies and beliefs, disabled and homeless. [Cartoon].
-*C. This is actually intended as the Boolean operators AND, OR (200501-CV04A3), 200420-CV17 -A, 200308-2C). AND requires each search string to be present, OR that any and all strings will do. However, the conjunctive and/or is already in common use and close enough to the parademic meaning of connections, that the operators are not used in stubs.
-3. Trash control and sanitation have from the beginning been part of human history, starting with literally moving to a new area to exploit, and/or moving the trash to an unoccupied space – water, underground pits, alien country, and burning to ash and smoke into the air. Despoiled areas include: over hunted/fished, resources depleted, spoils from extraction, disease outbreaks, fire, warfare, smog, drought and ruined reputations. Eventually this accumulation and subsequent contaminations turned to much larger cleanup and recovery activities. There are now the beginnings of ecological management and regulation, but still nothing that will extinguish the root cause
-A. Unfortunately, the problem of trash keeps leading up to biocalamities, or are an unintended consequence of the biocalamity. This includes the recent CV =2=, that increased the one time use for limiting spread became a problem, notably masks and plastics =2=. Interestingly one of the aggravators of CV was air pollution, which declined at that time.

-B. Template App2↓ was an early concept borrowed from archaeology when I first began observing (2010) and testing if the umbrella concept =2= of parademic – people alongside biosphere calamity – was valid.
-*C. The E in the 14mmdd-E# stub numbers refer to the West Africa Ebola which provided the first natural experiment to test the open source methodology providing a wide source and observations against a large scale biocalamity. There was so much material on Ebola that it was separated from the other syndemics of the time, that Ebola (E) stubs were separated. The concurrent parademic of Ebolaphobia (E) had clear fear mongering =2= =3= =4= =5= =6= and misreported items =2= =3= =4= =5= =6=, providing strong evidence that one could have parademic without a biological agent threatening communities 4A↑. This is a form of bioterrorism that instead of an actual bioagent uses proxies of rumor, propaganda, conspiracy theory, panic, political slanting, fear mongering and other social contagions. These result in behaviors that spread like disease and impact on health and environment.
-D. 2014Ebola was when parademic started exploring the idea of template App2↓ beyond artifacts to include ideas, people and events 4A↑. These ideas in part neutralized effective response to Ebola, for instance defining the template of a PHEIC delayed actions. Differences of meaning of “hospitals” were a multivocalic template that overrode needs by insisting on certain standards to create a hospital but not in time to meet the needs of the Ebola infected, while the local population considered hospitals as places to die. An indicator that a facility used for Ebola was overwhelmed was the biohazards on floors and beds with feces, urine, blood, bodies. As hospital sanitation, hand washing, cadaver disposal and pick up improved there was the use of contaminating chemicals [Photo], that may have made medical scams and disinfectant misinformaton seem reasonable.
App 2. Template, Social Blueprints and Worldviews...
-8. ... are conceptual assumptions that intent, intelligence, symbolism, language are influencing the manufacture of artifacts: It includes the following points:
-A. A mental template is an idea in the mind of the maker of an artifact (likely part of a larger whole), while ideofacts leave evidence with physical expressions. Interpretation of what ideofacts mean (what is believed) is not a supportable presumption without its original and whole in situ context, to include information from users. For example a religious symbol found in a place of worship with related texts, will have a different meaning than the same symbol found in a museum with its associated didactic panel.
-B. A mental template applies to an artifact as a whole, though one can reasonably reverse engineer what an artifact’s functions was as a piece of a larger system or end product. This is the contextual assemblage where the physical evidence is consistently found. However, systems and use may be ideological, possibly losing or changing meaning over time.
-C. A mental template is a subset of all the attributes of the artifact, including its assemblage of associated artifacts that indicate purpose and meaning, Unfortunately, the observer effect likely skews interpretation and conclusions. These skews likely indicate more about the reporter and their social milieu than that of the artifact itself.
-D. While "tradition" may determine all or part of the mental template, other factors or considerations also contribute to the template. Form follows function and the final shape usually designed to be useable by humans and/or =2= its coevolutionary species. This implies all species, and life in general, are functioning combinations of junk, while the biosphere is a petri sphere.
-E. Factors other than the maker's mental template will contribute to the final form and appearance of the artifact or concept. Raw material available, norms and laws, manufacture methods and costs, marketing and markets, affordability, colors, texture, investments of finance and effort (time), labor available, conflicting narratives, transportability, desired durability, intended function, smell, etc.

-10. Refuse to be discarded itself is a template. What is part of the overlapping sets [potential Venn Diagram] that comprise garbage varies between cultures, communities and individuals, and the geospatial incidents and events that create what is waste. These discards could be a resource in a different geospatial context.
